Wizna – Soldiers of Captain Raginis

The mural shows Polish soldiers after the battle for the defence of Wizna, the Polish Thermopylae, where around 500 troops under the command of Captain Władysław Raginis held out against 40,000 Wehrmacht troops. The work is based on a photograph by a German soldier and was created in precisely the location where it was taken. The mural was the idea of Dariusz Szymanowski from the Wizna 1939 Society.
